Were my words exactly, when my friend and I discovered this place in North Amsterdam.  I had died and gone to heaven and when I came back to reality, I had a new armoire, hope chest and random bits and bobbles.  Thank goodness the prices are amazing.

North Amsterdam is the old shipyard district that is now referred to as The North District of the city with a lot of warehouses and opportunity for love.  The right people have gotten a hold of this part of town and started wonderful things.

Van Dijk & Ko. is a warehouse FULL of Hungarian vintage furniture, hardware and everything in between.  The first time my friend and I visited, we were giggling and holding on to each other as if we were going to be blown away from the massive blast of killer possibilities.

Here's what I ended up with:

Then, as if that weren't enough, across the alley is Neef Louis, an equally large warehouse full of mid-century and industrial modern stuff.  Gasp.

That big ol' "G" ended up coming home with me from Neef Louis:

We always end up at this great cafe across the channel from the Amsterdam Central Station, called Cafe Du Pont.  It's a charming little joint with a big fat cat, called "Mouse".  Everything served is Bio / Organic.

Mr. Mouse

This place is on my wish list for the summer.
